Max looks around and finds himself in a wooden hut. "Where am I?" He walks to the next room and is shocked to see a Lucario standing right in front of him. "Mother!" He smiles and runs over to her. As he wraps his arms around her, she disappears. The wooden hut background disappears and Max falls through the air. He lands and appears in a fiery realm. Derek appears and laughs at him with a sinister cackle. He raises his arm and causes Max to fall into a dark abyss. Max opens his eyes halfway to see a Darmanitan in front of him.
"Hey, Riolu, are you okay?" The Darmanitan asks.
Max stares at him. "What… What happened? Where am I?"
The Darmanitan stands. "You're in the Darmanitan village. We found you and your friends lying there on the mesa. We brought you here to our village to save all of you."
Max juts up. "Where are my friends? I want to see them."
The Darmanitan gently pushes Max back. "Easy there. They're all outside, waiting to see you. We'll bring them in." The Darmanitan walks to the door and opens it. The gang walks in.
Stefano walks up to the Darmanitan. "How's he doing?"
"He's fine," The Darmanitan replies. "He just woke up."
Lucy walks to Max. "Hey Max, how are you feeling?"
Max looks at Lucy. "Okay, I guess." Lucy offers her paw.
Max grabs it and pulls himself up. "Thanks."
Lucy smiles. "No problem." She turns to the Darmanitan. "We need to get back to Pokéville."
"Very well, but I need you to do something for us first," the Darmanitan says.
Stefano looks at him. "Depends on what it is."
The Darmanitan sighs. "There is an old temple with an ancient relic we've been seeking, but we weren't able to reach it. We are looking for an idol. With it, we can once again bring life that flourished in the Sand Sea Desert."
Max nods. "We accept your quest. Take us there and we'll find your idol."
A few minutes later the gang is in the sand boat, heading to the location of the temple.
The Darmanitan looks around. "What a shame. Don't look at the dead bodies if you can help it. There was nothing we could do to save them." The gang looks around. Elise buries her face in Max's stomach.
Max puts his paw on her head and strokes her hair gently. "It's okay, Elise. We're almost there. Just don't look at them."
Meanwhile, Derek and Bruno are at a cantina in a small sand village.
Derek pounds the table in anger. "Blast those Pokémon! I will have my revenge!"
Bruno puts his claws on him. "Take it easy, Master. How about another beverage?"
Derek sighs. "Perhaps another drink will settle my anger."
"Don't worry, Master. We'll get those pesky Pokémon. Let's just stay here and have a couple of drinks."
"All right," Derek agrees. "Whatever you do, don't get drunk. You remember the last time you were drunk."
The sand boat stops and everyone onboard gets out.
"Welcome to the Temple of Rah," The Darmanitan says. "The idol is deep inside, but be careful of the traps."
"We can handle anything," Max says. "We're the Green Team."
The Darmanitan sits on the sand boat. "Okay, I'll wait for you out here." The gang enters the Temple of Rah. Spider webs hang from the ceiling cover the golden walls as the gang walks through them and down the stairs.
Elise clings Roger. "This place gives me the creeps."
"Don't worry," Roger says, patting her on the head. "Just have some courage."
Max raises his hand and the gang stops. "Something's not right." He steps on a tile and an arrow whizzes in front of him. The arrow hits the wall. Acid creates a gas that eats away at the wall. Max turns to the gang and says, "Careful, these tiles with eye symbols shoot acid arrows. Keep walking and don't step on any of them." The gang walks around the eye tiles and tries not to stop on any of them. The gang makes it to the other side.
"Okay, let's get going." Max keeps walking. The gang follows him.
"I have a bad feeling about this," Nicole says.
Meanwhile, outside the cantina, Derek and Bruno walk up the street.
"Bruno, you blasted idiot!" Derek shouts. "I told you not to get drunk!"
Bruno slouches over, giggling. "Relax, Master. I got this under control." He stumbles to the ground.
Derek holds his head. "I sense a disturbance. Come, Bruno. I feel something is going on."
Bruno follows Derek, but can't keep his balance. "Wait for me, Master!"
The gang goes deeper into the temple. They enter a big room with ancient symbols written on the walls.
Elise looks at the wall. "What do all these pictures mean?"
Max walks over to her. "They are Pokémon hieroglyphics." His eyes get fixed on the picture of an eye. "Wait a second. That symbol is the same symbol on Derek's forehead and Bruno's armband."
"Yeah, but what does it mean?" Stefano says.
Roger pulls out his translation book. "I think I can read this." He takes a deep breath. "It says here that this symbol was used to indicate an ancient clan called the Sacred Eye. The Sacred Eye brought life into these lands before it became a desert. They built this temple to meet and store their most valuable treasures including the bronze idol of the Sand Sea."
"That's what the Darmanitan are after," Jessica says. "Is there anything in that book that talks about it?"
Roger scans the book. "Here it is. The bronze idol is said to have created life in the Sand Sea Desert. When the Sandshrew tribe attacked the temple, the Sacred Eye locked it deep in the temple. They wiped out the entire tribe and themselves. The clan was a group of Dusknoirs," He looks at the gang and closes the book. "The Sacred Eye were Derek's ancestors."
"So, Derek killed Max's mother because he was looking for the idol." Elise says.
"Exactly," Max adds. "We need to find it before Derek and Bruno show up for it. Come on!" The gang walks into a large room where stone statues.
"These must be the statues of the great warriors who were part of the Sacred Eye," Stefano says.
"You're correct, Stefano," Roger replies.
Elise looks around and shivers a little. "These statues give me the creeps."
Jessica stands next to her. "Don't be afraid, Elise. We're all here. Nothing bad is going to happen." Max stands in front of a Dusknoir statue. He stares at the clay Lucario statue and his eyes glow bright blue.
Lucy shakes him. "Max, snap out of it!"
Max shakes his head. "Huh? What?"
Lucy looks at him. "Are you okay, Max?"
Max holds his head. "I think so. Let's just get moving." The gang walks to the next room where the bronze Lucario idol appears on a stone stand. They all stare at it.
"That's the bronze idol," Roger says.
Stefano looks at Roger. "Are you sure?"
Roger turns to Stefano. "Positive, I saw it in the picture."
Max keeps staring at the idol. He walks over to it.
Elise turns to Roger. "Maybe this isn't it."
"What do you mean Elise?" Lucy asks.
Elise looks at Lucy. "It could be a fake. We're not sure."
"Uh guys, what's with Max?" Nicole asks.  The gang looks at Max, who walks up to the idol. They look at him in surprise. Max reaches for the idol. Suddenly, a dark pulse hits the stone stand and a dark shield traps the gang except for Max. Max and the gang turn around.
Derek has his smoky hand pointed at Max. "You're not getting that idol, Riolu. Your friends can't help you now so prepare to die." He shoots his dark pulse at Max, but Max dodges and fires his aura sphere at him. Derek throws his fire punch, but Max dodges.
"We have to help Max!" Jessica shouts.
"We can't," Lucy adds. "We're trapped. Max has to deal with this on his own."
Bruno laughs. "Right you are, Buneary. I got my eyes on you, Pokémon, so don't try anything funny." Derek fires his shadow ball. Max roundhouse kicks it back and hits Derek. Max charges at Derek and punches him hard. Derek shoots his dark pulse and charges at Max. He throws his thunder punch and it hits Max so hard he's forced back a little. Max uses his focus blast and pushes him away. Max jumps high in the air and shoots his aura sphere at Derek, knocking him out. Max walks up to Bruno and punches him in the face. Bruno falls on the ground, unconscious. The shield around the gang disappears, setting them free.
"Are you guys okay?" Max asks.
"We are," Lucy says. Max turns and walks toward the idol.
He picks it up and turns to the gang. "We did it. Now let's get back to-" Derek fires his dark pulse at Max. Max falls to his knees and holds his stomach.
"Max! No!" Lucy runs to him. Stefano firs his razor leaf at Derek, but Derek dodges and it hits the wall behind him. The whole room starts to shake and rocks crumble from the ceiling. Derek and Bruno get up and run out of the room.
Lucy helps Max up. "Are you okay?"
Max holds his stomach tightly. "Yeah, I'm fine."
"The whole temple's going to collapse!" Elise yells.
"Let's get out of here!" Jessica shouts.
Lucy puts her arm around Max and helps him run. The gang runs through the rooms they came from. One rock collapses and falls on Jessica and Elise, but Stefano moves it and tosses it aside. The gang runs out of the temple, which collapses to the ground and causes dirt to fly everywhere. The gang emerges from the dusty fog, coughing.
"Glad you're back," the Darmanitan says. "Did you get the idol?"
Max hands the idol to the Darmanitan with one hand. "Yes, we did."
The Darmanitan takes the idol. "Good. We can now restore life to the Sand Sea Desert."
"Yeah, but can you get us to Pokéville first?" Jessica asks.
The Darmanitan gets on the wheel. "Sure, climb aboard." The gang gets on the sand boat and heads off to Pokéville. Max looks at the destroyed temple while holding his stomach.
Lucy walks to him and puts her paw on his shoulder. "You did really good, Max."
Max holds his stomach with his arm. "I'm tired."
"You should rest then," Lucy says. "You need it." Max lies down on the wooden deck of the boat. He closes his eyes and falls fast asleep. Lucy kneels down and puts his head against her belly and gently strokes his hair with her paw.
Meanwhile, Derek and Bruno stand on the sand, watching the Pokémon escape.
"You may have won this time, but we'll be back, Green Team," Derek says, staring at the disappearing sand boat. "Come, Bruno. We must go back to Tombia and devise a new plan."
"Yes, Master," Bruno says. Derek and Bruno get in a sand boat and travel back to the island of Tombia.
I'm going to try and release the episodes a little faster, but I have to work at my own pace to release the upcoming new ones.
